Just Ideas alums are former students from Taconic Correctional Facility (a New York State women's prison) and the Metropolitan Detention Center (a maximum-security federal prison in Brooklyn, New York). They are essential to our program in offering advice and preparing our teachers. They speak -- as only formerly incarcerated people can do --to the harsh reality of existence in prison and to the full impact that philosophical ideas can have on the lives of those inside.
Just Ideas alums say that our courses have deeply impacted them. But those of us who have had the privilege of teaching and working with our alums have been transformed by them.
